If you look online many sites will give you the same tip: Get your own site domain (sitename.com not sitename.host.com).
And this is the first piece of advice that will ruin your blogger career because you will look in your wallet and you will see you can’t afford to pay hundreds of dollars to buy a site domain. This was my case too, don’t think you are alone.
I thought that no one will read my blog because I didn’t pay it and then I realized that people don’t care so much if my blog is allyfortis.com or allyfortis.wordpress.com, it’s all about the quality of the posts.
And after this, I thought why not keep everything free. Better focus on the quality of my post than focusing on paying my blog’s bill and forgetting about the content. Because if I won’t keep paying for my domain the blog will reverse from allyfortis.com to allyfortis.wordpress.com.
All this is nonsense to me. Readers won’t care if I paid hundreds of dollars for the name, but forgot to post or post poor quality content.
What is your opinion?
Don’t forget to like and share this post with your friends to help them and follow my blog.
[ Smiles ] In regards to getting one’s own domain, it is better to do it on the self-hosted version of WordPress (The one that you pay to host on Blue-Host, etcetera). If you fail to pay those fees, your blog is thrown off of their servers.
I personally believe that it is not necessary for personal blogs to have their own domain (They could if they really wanted to).
However, where business-related blogs are concerned, having a domain for it makes it appear more professional.
And, you are right, it all boils down to the quality of the content on one’s blog.

You are right. If it’s a service company or something big, people tend to trust more if they have a paid domain. Thank you for your comment!

It’s just a matter of choice. As long as your readers like your blog, they won’t mind such details.
The only reason I bought a paid domain is to shorten the length of my blog’s url. So, I only got the personal plans which cost around $35 a years. For me, that’s reasonable enough.
Other plans offer more flexibility and customization though I don’t have a need for them. While I know my way around CSS and server commands, I don’t have that much free time. And they’re expensive as well… can cost more than a hundred dollars per year.

I agree. Unfortunately some people trust you if you have a paid domain. But as you said, is a matter of choice.
